Description

General part information

ADSP-2187L Series

The ADSP-2187L is a single-chip, 3.3V microcomputer optimized for digital signal processing (DSP) and other high speed numeric processing applications. The ADSP-2187L combines the ADSP-21xx family base architecture (three computational units, data address generators and a program sequencer) with two high-speed serial ports, a 16-bit internal DMA port, a byte DMA port, a programmable timer, Flag I/O, extensive interrupt capabilities, and on-chip program and data memory. The ADSP-2187L integrates 160K bytes of on-chip memory configured as 32Kx24 of Program RAM and 32Kx16 of data RAM. Five power-down modes are also provided to meet the needs of battery operated portable equipment. In addition, the ADSP-2187L supports instructions new to the 218x family which include bit manipulation (bit set, bit clear, bit toggle, bit test) new ALU constants, a new multiplication instruction (x squared), biased rounding, result free ALU operations, I/O memory transfers, and global interrupt masking, for increased flexibility.Fabricated in an 0.35 micron process, the ADSP-2187L operates with a 19 ns instruction cycle time. Every instruction executes in a single cycle; in addition, multiple operations can be performed in parallel. In one processor cycle all members of the 21xx family can:Perform an arithmetic computationPerform a data read from Data MemoryPerform a data read from Program MemoryUpdate a memory pointerUpdate another memory pointerCheck a circular buffer boundaryGenerate the next program addressFetch the next instructionThe ADSP-2187L is available in a 100-pin LQFP package and is pin compatible with previous members of the 218x family.
